Holistic Pet Night (Friday night, August 8, 2008)
4pm - 9pm

Holistic Pet Night is an evening of presentations and demos on chiropractic, acupuncture, massage, holistic health, animal communication, Reiki, Doga and more.

Doga!
Suzi Teitelman, DogaDog.com

Help your dog find his or her inner peace! Doga is a yoga experience where both dog and human practice poses, perform breathing exercises and share bonding time. Suzi Teitelman, a yoga instructor and former Director of Yoga for Crunch Fitness in New York City, will explain Doga and share some poses you and your dogi (a dog that practices yoga) can try at home. Suzi coined the term "Doga" after discovering that her adopted cocker spaniel, Coali, loved trying different yoga poses with her. Suzi incorporates massage, light stretches, relaxing and bonding in her Doga poses. In addition to having a howling good time, Suzi says dogi’s sleep better and are stronger than their couch-potato counterparts —and are often better behaved! Suzie now lives in Jacksonville Beach, FL. Visit her website at www.dogadog.com

Pet Massage
Jedidiah Stone

Touch is a very basic bond between animals and people so it is not surprising that touch can be a technique for healing as well. Massage is a great way to bond with your pet while increasing circulation, enhancing flexibility and improving metabolic efficiency. Massage also provides an opportunity for you to perform an ongoing assessment of your pet and to be aware of changes in the skin or body structure. Jedidiah Stone is a licensed massage therapist and certified dog and equine massage provider. He’ll be talking about the benefits of massage for your pet and giving some tips on safe massage techniques you can try at home. Jedidiah offers private at-home massage sessions. He can be reached at

Is Chiropractic Right for Your Pet?
Beth Ferris, DVM, Coastal Animal Hospital Wellness Center

Chiropractic is a natural, drug-free option to your animal's total health care. It can decrease pain and add quality to your pet’s performance, movement, and well being by restoring normal range of motion to the joints. Chiropractic care can be extremely helpful for animals having problems involving the joints, muscles and nerves and can provide an alternative method of care that often complements traditional care. Beth Ferris, DVM is an associate veterinarian at Coastal Animal Hospital in Rockledge, FL. She is certified by the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association and is adjunct faculty for the Veterinary Technology program at Brevard Community College. Dr. Ferris has served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve and Operation Desert Storm. Join her as she explains chiropractic and helps you to understand how it may benefit your pet.

www.beaktwobeak.com
Corene Fry is an experienced animal behaviorist and worked as an animal trainer at Universal Studios' Animal Planet Live show. She helps pet owners reach a better understanding with their pets by simply learning how to communicate on their level and to pay attention to their responses.

Talk With the Animals
Most people fail to understand the importance of building a mutual language with their pets. If you don’t communicate in a way your pet understands, it can lead to frustration on your side and your pet will simply be confused. Many behavioral problems can be resolved, or even avoided, if you start to view the world from your pet’s perspective and begin to understand how they learn and what they are trying to tell you. By taking the time to understand how your pet “talks,” you can communicate with them with the use of voice tones and body language in a way that they understand.

Michael Fleck, DVM

Dr. Fleck has practiced small animal medicine for thirty-five years and is founder and creator of Epi-Pet which develops “high performance” skin care products and treatments for pets. Discover the Solutions to Shedding, Itching, and Odor Problems. What about Sunscreen?
Do you find yourself vacuuming two or three times a day because of excessive pet shedding? Do you wake up in the middle of the night to the thumping and scratching of your four-legged family member? Do you wake up to an unpleasant odor from that furry friend sleeping in bed with you or change your bedding frequently because of that smell and pet dander on your bed sheets? Lifestyle changes in our pet’s lives change with the lifestyles in our own lives. Pets live in the house, sleep in bed with our kids or us, they travel on family vacations, go to the beach and go boating, hiking, jogging, dog parks, and etc. The pet industry recognizes those medical and hygienic skin and hair coat problems and is doing something about them. Epi-Pet manufacturers “high-performance” products that eliminate excessive shedding, itching and odor. And don’t forget about sun protection! The sun can cause burning, dermatitis and skin tumors in our pets, just as it can in us Protect your pet too!
